I checked with the School System here in Elkhart, IN. ECS is NOT mandating that the Obama speech to air on 9-8-2009 be shown in classes. However it is at the discretion of the teacher if they want to show it. I was told that I would have the right to opt my children out if I felt it was what I wanted to do.
I would suggest that parents read the speech that the White House will post in advance of air on 9-7-2009 before making a choice in the matter. Too many conservatives are being labeled as "nut jobs", read the speech and if its political in anyway instead of education, pull your kids from participating if you deem it necessary.
